UPDATE: We couldn’t have ordered a better Canada Night – a packed house arrived with clear skies, and left with snow-laden grounds! So, while the crowd was enjoying their toasty pizza, Canadian Ambassador to Greece, Keith Morrill, greeted everyone with warm words. Next, Friends of Canada (FoC) coordinator Kathryn Lukey-Coutsocostas led everyone as they wrote, and then received, personal 2017 predictions (such as: You will pursue a career as a professional ballerina at the Bolshoi, You will tweet D. Trump, and – the most popular – You will move to Canada). These predictions were also used to find five lucky door prize winners. Next, Ambassador and Jane Morrill cut the official vasilopita along with Lukey-Coutsocostas. The lucky flouri (coin) was won by the FoC Welfare Network, run by Polis Pantelidis and Maria Galinou, in collaboration with the Salvation Army. Next, individual vasilopita buns were given to FoC members: the lucky winner of the flouri (and a prize) was Marie-Thérèse Rolland. Before we all left, our FoC Welfare Network gathered together the second-hand bedding and towels generously brought in for Greek families in need. And, after that, we all raced home before the snow completely blocked the roads!
