UPDATE: What’s more Canadian than a pepperoni pizza with Caesar salad on the side? It was enjoyed by many guests, including Canadian ambassador Keith Morrill, his spouse, Jane Morrill, Canadian embassy staff Maira Tsimatzi and Faye Skitzis, and one of our media sponsors, managing director Elena Tzavara from XpatAthens.com.

After dining, we listened to an insightful talk by Ellen Froustis, followed by a Q & A. Guests were curious about several matters, for example, the main difference between North American childrearing and Greek, and whether the current youth could lead the world out of its present crisis.

FoC and the Canadian embassy would like to thank the guests for bringing men’s toiletries for the refugees; they will be distributed by our Welfare Network facilitators, Polis Pantelidis and Maria Galinou, through the Salvation Army http://www.salvationarmy.gr/en-GB/%CE%B1%CE%B8%CE%B7%CE%BD%CE%B1. We’d also like to thank La Piazza pizzeria https://www.facebook.com/lapiazza.lapiazza/?fref=ts for its hospitality, as well as for treating the head table to a delightful meal. Thanks also to the Canadian embassy www.Greece.gc.ca for a door prize (a thermos) and to Katerina Trambakou, manager, Diktion, for five Yves Rocher facials www.yvesrocher.gr.

The evening couldn’t have happened without the efforts of several volunteers: Chrisoula Falagaris, Fran Kaltsiki, Dawn Lefakis, Jennifer Lev, Christine Mela, Patricia Thorburn Maneta, Maria Moustaki, Sophia Panagos, and Eliza Yiannakis. And we must also mention a donation of Canadian food picks kindly brought over from Canada by FoC member Beth Athanassiadis.
