UPDATE: Approximately 60 guests supped on seafood risotto, and then participated in an old-fashioned chocolate Easter egg hunt at our Friends of Canada ‘Canada Night’ on April 15 at Neo Elleniko restaurant; amongst the intrepid hunters were the Canadian Ambassador to Greece, Robert Peck, Maria Pantazi-Peck, and Paula Lucas, American author of ‘Harvesting Stones’.
As usual, several guests walked away with free gifts! We thank our door prize sponsors: Sudha Nair-Iliades, publisher, Insider Athens (www.insider-magazine.gr) for 5 one-year subscriptions to Insider Athens magazine; Katerina Trambakou, manager, Diktion (www.yvesrocher.gr) for ten Yves Rocher facials); Eleni Adreadis (http://www.publicbookawards.gr/search.php?CatID=6&char=%CE%93&type=GR ) for four of her books called Γίνε Πράκτορας του Πλανήτη; Paula Lucas (http://www.harvestingstonesbook.com/) for one of her books called Harvesting Stones; The Pecks for a bottle of Caribou, alcoholic beverage; and Neo Elleniko restaurant for a meal for two.
Of course, the evening couldn’t have gone smoothly without the helping hands of many volunteers. Thanks go to: Kostas Vrontos (sound/tech); Fran Kaltsiki, Eirini Landon, Alex Kondra, Christine Mela, Dawn Lefakis, Natasa Karabatsou, Polis Pantelidis, Maria Galinou and Sarina Picone (photos/nametags/decoration/clean-up/etc. etc.);
Special thanks also to Dawn Lefakis for donating 19 beautiful cloth maple leaf placemats from Canada!
Our guests generously donated adult disposable diapers and juice for the residents of Asylum Aniaton, which were later delivered by Polis Pantelidis and Maria Galinou, co-facilitators of our Friends of Canada ‘Welfare Network’ (which collaborates with the Salvation Army). And Marie-Thérèse Rolland, facilitator of our Friends of Canada ‘Réseau Franco-Canadien/Franco-Canadian Network’, once again rallied a strong showing of francophones.
